Just to clarify , LPGMA has nothing to do with Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. It is a sectoral organization that was founded by LPG Marketer’s Association so that they can raise up issues regarding fuel hikes and other connected issues.

In 1998, Congress passed Republic Act No. 8479, now known as the “Downstream Oil Deregulation Act.”   The law opened the opportunity for many small and independent refillers and marketers in the LPG sector.   The LPG in cylinders sold by these independent players are priced lower compared to the brands sold by the oil majors.

Because there is a great demand of LPG here in the Philippines most of the LPG stores sells in it a higher price. It is not fair in our part as consumers. Since most of us uses LPG gas when we cook everyday then it becomes a burden whenever we ran out of LPG gas. This is a call to whom it may concern.

Liquified Petroleum Gas Marketer’s Association party list (LPGMA) is a sectoral organization registered with the Comelec as a party list group, advocating lower-priced LPG for the masses, and the right of the consumers to purchase any brand.

Aside from the oil price hike problem causing  the Philippines to suffer,  the fuel price hike should be also be paid attention by the government. Here are some reasons why :

“Only Few realize the direct implications that rising LPG costs has on the price of cooked food,” begins Arnel Ty, President of LPG-MA, a sectoral organization representing the small, independent players in the industry, participating in the May 10, 2010 elections. “This is the reason why our organization continuously advocates maintaining reasonably priced LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) accessible to household consumers.”

“If LPG prices go unchecked, more people will resort to using alternative cooking methods. These include cooking with wood, especially in rural areas, where it contributes to the continued denudation of the forest” adds Ty.

and “As a party-list organization made up of the independent players in the industry, LPG-MA  is quite proud to be the watchdogs for an industry with the potential to affect so many Filipinos across different facets, should LPG-pricing go unchecked. What we have is the common goal of protecting the right of the ordinary consumer and to give them access to lower-priced LPG,” he ends.
